A Portland for Everyone
Working to make communities safe, vibrant, and prosperous.
Closest to the problem.
Closest to the solution.
Michael Johnson is a Portland native and transformative community leader who pairs deep street-level credibility with high-level policy expertise. After the tragic loss of his son Marlan to gun violence in 2023, he turned personal grief into professional advocacy — joining the OHSU Gun Violence Prevention Commission, a 30-person expert panel working alongside public health professionals and the Multnomah County DA to shape state-level policy.
As founder and Executive Director of Take 3 Outreach Services, Michael leads gang intervention, youth mentorship, and fatherhood initiatives. A veteran credible-messenger field worker, he serves as a bridge between Portland's most at-risk youth and formal systems — and as a policy consultant to the Mayor's office and the Multnomah County DA on gun violence and community safety.
What District 3 Needs Now
Portland is ready for change
Michael has been showing up for this community long before he decided to run. He knows our streets, our struggles, and our potential.
We need someone on City Council who understands what it's like to raise a family in District 3. Michael is that person.
His plan for housing is the most concrete I've seen from any candidate. He's not just talking — he has real solutions.
Portland needs your voice.
